Engraved pipe tags
Rigid engraved plastic tags that strap to the pipe with cable ties, hang from chain or stick on. Pick the service and the pipe size: the color comes from CAN/CGSB-24.3 or ASME A13.1, and the letter height and length from the pipe’s outside diameter, insulation included. The flow arrow is engraved.

Letter height and length by pipe size
Set from the outside diameter of the pipe or its insulation. The tag is at least the color-field length and grows to fit the words, up to 23½″. Online we make tags for up to 6⅝″ outside diameter; bigger pipe takes a 24″ or 32″ tag, made to quote.

Examples are domestic cold water tags on steel pipe without insulation. Copper tube is smaller outside than steel pipe of the same size, so pick the pipe material in the tool.
Engraved tags, not wrap-around markers
These are rigid engraved plastic tags, the same material as our valve tags: the letters are cut through the colored face to the core, so there is no print to wear off. They suit mechanical rooms, ceiling spaces and anywhere a tag gets handled.
We don’t make wrap-around vinyl pipe markers or snap-on markers.
Fixing
- Cable-tie slots at each end: a tie goes round the pipe or insulation.
- Two holes for chain, S-hooks or screws.
- Adhesive back for a clean, flat or large pipe.
Colors
CAN/CGSB-24.3, the Canadian scheme, is withdrawn but still cited in many specifications; ASME A13.1 is the US scheme. The two group some services differently — heating water is yellow in CGSB 24.3 and green in ASME A13.1 — so pick the scheme your specification names. See color codes by service.
