Every valve tagged in one pass

Plastic valve tags engraved through a colored face to a contrasting core, so the letters are cut into the tag rather than printed on it. Pick the style once and the whole schedule follows it.

Made for the room they hang in

Tags colored to match the pipe they isolate, on brass chain or an S-hook, sized so the number reads from the floor.

Four shapes, seventeen sizes

Round for most valves, square for longer lines, octagon to make a shut-off stand out, rectangular for words. Every size shows its letter heights and price before you order.

Color-coded by service

Valve tags usually follow the pipe-marking colors of ASME A13.1 in the US, or CGSB 24.3 in Canada. The builder colors each tag from its abbreviation; you can override it.

Questions

What are plastic valve tags made of?
Two-color engraving stock: a thin colored face over a contrasting core. The laser cuts through the face, so the letters show in the core color — engraved into the tag, not printed on its surface.
How fast can I get valve tags?
We make them the same day you approve the proof, in Burlington, Ontario. Shipping time depends on where you are; pickup in Burlington is free.
Can you number valve tags in a sequence?
Yes. Type a prefix and a range (V-101 to V-140, HWS-001 to HWS-137) and every tag is made, previewed and priced. Up to 300 tags in one online order; email bigger schedules.
What size valve tag does a typical spec ask for?
MasterSpec Sections 22 05 53 and 23 05 53 ask for valve tags with ½″ numbers and ¼″ letters for the piping system abbreviation. A 2″ round, square or octagon tag with two lines reaches those heights; a 1½″ round gets 7/16″ numbers.
What color should a valve tag be?
Most buildings match the pipe-marking colors: green and white for water, yellow and black for gas and steam, red and white for fire, blue and white for compressed air.
Do you include chains and S-hooks?
Choose brass S-hooks, 4½″ brass bead chain, brass jack chain with an S-hook, or nylon cable ties in the builder; one per tag is listed on your quote.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. Canadian orders get live rates at checkout; US shipping is quoted before dispatch. Prices are in Canadian dollars.
